Perambalur CEO reviews revision of electoral rolls

Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik on Thursday reviewed the works taken up as part of the summary revision of electoral rolls in Perambalur district. 

Ms. Patnaik held a meeting at the Collectorate when she reviewed in detail the steps taken to include names of new voters, deletion of names of dead voters and those who had shifted, change of name, and address.

A total number of 20,846 applications were received during the special camps held on November 16, 17, 23, and 24 in the district for inclusion of names, deletion and making necessary changes. A total of 5,185 first-time voters have been added. 

Perambalur district has Perambalur (Reserved) and Kunnam Assembly constituencies with 332 and 320 polling stations, respectively. The summary revision was carried out under the supervision of booth-level officials. District Collector Grace Pachuau and district administration officials were present at the review meeting, an official release said. 

Later, she inspected the strong room where the electronic voting machines were kept and participated in an awareness programme on voter enrolment on the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University campus.
