Police officer injured as bullet misfires

A woman police officer sustained a leg injury after a bullet accidentally fired from a civil police officer’s gun at the Thalassery police station. The alleged incident occurred while the officer was handling the weapon during a shift change on Tuesday.

According to sources, the bullet was not directly fired at anyone, but went off causing the shrapnel injure the woman officer, Rajisha. She is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kannur. The civil police officer, Subin, who was reportedly handling the gun, was suspended from service following the incident.

The police have launched an investigation.
