A special team of police from south east division cracked down on Central prison of Parappana Agarahara and seized banned items from the inmates during surprise checks.
Based on intel inputs the team of officials formed several teams and conducted searches at the different barracks and recovered two mobile phones, an induction stove, ₹16,500 in cash, and four knives .
The banned items have been recovered from inmates despite multi level security checks, a senior police officer who was part of the raid said.
A complaint has been filed with the Parappana Agarahara police in this regard based on which the prison officials of the central prison, officials of the Karnataka state Industrial Security Force deployed for the security at the prison have been booked along with three convicts from whom the banned items have been seized .
The raids indicated yet again that despite tight security and increased vigil by installation of advanced jammers, mobile phones are being operated unabated .
