Bengaluru Rural railway police busted an inter-State drug racket and caught two mules red-handed carrying 970 grams of hashish oil worth₹70 lakh.
The accused are Kantubukta Appalaraju, 34, a labourer, and Yeshwanth, 19, a student. They were caught while waiting on Platform 1 of Yelahanka railway station allegedly to hand over the bag containing hashish oil to their contact.
They had come from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru in Prashanthi Express.
A police patrol team checked their bag and found the drugs.
The duo told the police that ‘they were offered money by Tangati Bharath to deliver the bag and return to their home town’.
The duo was booked under NDPS Act. Efforts are on to track down Tangati Bharath and the person who was supposed to receive the bag at Yelahanka railway station.
