Rally held to spread awareness against substance abuse in Kollam

District Collector N. Devidas has called for a unified fight against substance abuse at a rally organised by the district administration, Excise department, and the City police on Saturday to spread awareness against substance abuse.

He was delivering an anti-narcotic message at the concluding ceremony of the rally from Asramam Maidan to the Kollam beach.  “Chemical drugs have become a major threat and danger to society. The drug mafia has spread its net in schools and colleges. The police and excise are working hard, risking their lives, to save students from drugs. Parents and the public have a great responsibility in preventing the use of drugs,” the District Collector added.

The rally, held as part of the Excise department’s ‘Vimukthi’ campaign with the message ‘Kollam unites for a drug-free tomorrow,’ was flagged off by Additional SP N. Jiji at Asramam Maidan. A mime show with an anti-drug message was also performed. Deputy Excise Commissioner M. Naushad, Assistant Excise Commissioners H. Nooruddin and Baiju, and Excise Staff Association district president A. Raju spoke at the event. Students, youth organisations, and clubs participated in the rally.
