TDP Political bureau member and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy being welcomed during his visit to his constituency for Ramzan festivities in Nellore district on Saturday.
In a significant development, TDP’s Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has offered to give up his membership in the party’s political bureau for accommodating a youth leader, as proposed by the party general secretary Nara Lokesh.
It may be recalled that Mr. Chandramohan Reddy has been on the party’s premier decision-making body since 2012 and has also served as the Minister for Agriculture during the previous TDP regime between 2014-2019.
His offer came in the backdrop of the party youth leader Nara Lokesh seeking more prominence to youth in the party’s frontal organisations.
At the party’s foundation day celebrations held recently, Mr. Lokesh had asked the senior leaders to cooperate with his move to infuse young blood into the party.
Recollecting his place in the party’s political bureau since 2012, Mr. Chandramohan Reddy expressed satisfaction at his prolonged stint and agreed to step down to accommodate youth leaders in his place.
