Director General of Police (DGP) Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao praised the Sri Sathya Sai district police for their efforts in controlling crime and maintaining law and order effectively in the district.
The DGP, who visited Puttaparthi on Tuesday night, held a review meeting with the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Anantapur range Shimoshi and Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Ratna, and police officials from all the sub-divisions of Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts, focussing on the current crime scenario and strategies to enhance law enforcement.
During the session, the DGP acknowledged the district police’s efforts in tackling various crimes, noting a significant reduction in criminal activities across the State. He also commended the use of technology in crime control, specifically the deployment of drones and CCTV cameras, which have played a crucial role in crime detection and prevention. The DGP emphasised that the footage from CCTV cameras has been instrumental in solving cases, urging further expansion of the surveillance network in the district.
The DGP directed the police officers to focus on curbing cybercrimes and atrocities against women, highlighting the importance of continued diligence and the use of advanced technologies to address emerging challenges. The DGP also expressed satisfaction with the district’s progress in improving law and order, especially after the tragic rape and murder of a 26-year-old. “The Andhra Pradesh Police continue to implement robust crime control measures with an emphasis on technology and community engagement to maintain peace and safety in the region,” he said.
As part of the review, the district police made a PowerPoint presentation showcasing their efforts in maintaining peace and tackling crime. The DIG and SP presented the DGP with a Nandi statue and a shawl.
