Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has directed police officials to strengthen the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) across Andhra Pradesh. Chairing the State-level apex committee meeting on CCTNS and the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) at the Secretariat on Tuesday, he emphasized strict adherence to guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mr. Neerabh Kumar Prasad urged the procurement of advanced software and security equipment to enhance CCTNS, ensuring these acquisitions are based on recommendations from a technical committee. He also highlighted the importance of presenting the State’s roadmap for effective CCTNS implementation at the upcoming Southern Zonal Council meeting on January 31, 2025.
Officials briefed the Chief Secretary on the progress of the project, initiated in 2012, which integrates various data points such as FIRs, chargesheets, court documents and arrest records. The system facilitates real-time updates and supports services like passport and job verifications, crime analytics and identification of repeat offenders.
To date, the State has submitted an action plan worth ₹238 crore to the Union Home Ministry, securing ₹88 crore for acquiring critical technical and security tools. The meeting also discussed linking State data with the National Data Centre for enhanced functionality.
Senior police and administrative officials, including CID IG Vineet Brijlal, were present at the meeting, which also included virtual participation from DGP Dwarka Tirumala Rao.
