Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) [NCP(SP)] Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule on Sunday (April 27, 2025) urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to bestow the kin of six natives of Maharashtra who were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack with ‘Nagrik Shaurya’ or civil bravery award.

“The courage that affected families have shown is valuable… the families of the six people who died in in the terror attack should be honoured with the civil bravery award on the occasion of Maharashtra Day on May 1,” she wrote in a letter to Mr. Fadnavis.

In the terrorist attack in the meadows of Baisaran in Pahalgam on April 22, six natives of Maharashtra who lost their lives were Sanjay Lele, Hemant Joshi, Atul Mone, residents of Dombivli, Dilip Disle, a native of Panvel, and Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale, residents of Pune. Ms. Sule also demanded a government job for a family member of each deceased.

Taking the example of Jagdale’s daughter, Asawari, who is highly educated, Ms. Sule said, “It is possible to admit her to government service according to her educational qualifications, and on the same lines, one person from the family of other victims can also be admitted. The government should convey to the families that the people of Maharashtra are always with them,” she said. There was no response from Mr. Fadnavis to Ms. Sule’s letter till the time of going to press.
