TGCHE gears up for new challenges with new initiatives in higher education

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) is inviting suggestions from stakeholders, including academicians, industry experts, students, and policymakers, to foster collaboration and inclusivity as a part of its new academic initiatives.

A dedicated Google forum for suggestions is available on the TGCHE website: www.tgche.ac.in, said TGCHE Chairman V. Balakista Reddy. He said the focus areas of suggestions are integration of Technology and Digital Transformation, Curriculum Revamp for Industry Alignment, Strengthening Research and Development, Faculty Development Programs, Improving Access and Equity, Promoting Internships and Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem among others.

Prof. Reddy said the initiatives were necessary to strengthen education and give a new direction for the next generation. As a part of it, the TGCHE is going for a comprehensive revision of the undergraduate syllabus aiming to balance theoretical knowledge with practical skills in order to enhance employability and industry relevance.

Internship programme

Another key initiative is launching an internship programme to provide practical exposure to students, recent graduates, and young professionals in higher education governance, policy-making, and institutional management. This programme is in alignment with UGC guidelines for research and internships and bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world challenges.

Prof. Reddy said the benefits for interns include exposure to real-world projects in higher education governance and networking with higher education leaders and experts. In the process, the TGCHE will have access to a talented pool of young professionals and enhanced capacity for research, project implementation, and administrative tasks.
