There will be no power outages in the State during the summer this year, said Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise, V. Senthilbalaji, here on Saturday.
The government has taken necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply and is prepared to meet the increased demand, he said.
Addressing the media, he said, “To address peak demand, separate tenders have been issued, and estimations prepared, following review meetings with the Chief Minister and the Electricity Board. The government is ready to handle the summer peak demand efficiently and ensure a steady supply.”
Responding to allegations by BJP leader K. Annamalai that the DMK government was misusing funds from the State-run liquor Tasmac outlets for electoral gains, Mr. Balaji said he would comment after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids conclude.
“Annamalai’s claims are baseless, and keep changing over time. People are aware of how our government is effectively implementing welfare schemes for marginalised communities,” he said.
