A pillion rider was killed and the rider injured when a car knocked down their scooter at Poojenahalli gate in Devanahalli traffic police station limits on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Velu, 50, a resident of KGF and working at a private firm. He was returning home along with his colleague Ananth who was driving the scooter.
The duo was found severely injured and passers-by rushed them to a nearby hospital where Velu was declared as brought dead. Ananth is critical and is being treated.
The Devanahalli traffic police have registered a case of hit and run and efforts are on to track down the car.
In another incident, two people were killed and another injured when their motorcycle crashed into a roadside tree near Gundammana gate in Doddaballapur on Thursday night. They were riding triples and were allegedly inebriated.
The deceased have been identified as Rakshith, 30, the driver, and Venkatesh, 28, who was riding pillion. The other pillion rider was also injured critically and admitted to the hospital. The trio were working in a market at Doddaballapur and returning home after work.
The Doddaballapur police have taken up a case of self accident against the rider charging him with rash and negligent riding and are investigating further.
