TNEA allots 43,156 seats in the second round of counselling

As many as 43,156 candidates were given provisional allotment for admission as part of the second round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling.

This includes 36,921 candidates in the general category and 6,235 candidates from the government schools (7.5 per cent reservation) category.

This apart, tentative allotments were given to 15,461 general category candidates and 2,748 government school category candidates, according to a TNEA release.

Interestingly, 80,363 general category candidates and 14,828 government schools category candidates completed their choice filling for seats.

Those given provisional allotments are required to report to the respective colleges and complete the admission process by August 4. Similarly, those who were given tentative allotment are required to go to their chosen TNEA Facilitation Centre, give their original certificates, and pay the tuition fee as mentioned in their allotment order on or before August 4. This is to ensure the confirmation of the currently allocated seat and to enable upward movement.

If students fail to join the allocated seat or confirm their tentative allotment by the deadline, those seats will be pooled together and allotted to students waiting for upward movement during the same round, the release added.
