Two Maoists from Chhattisgarh involved in recruitment arrested in ASR district in Andhra Pradesh

An area committee member (ACM) and commander of Sabari Local Organization Squad (LOS) of the banned CPI (Maoist) Madakam Manga and party member of Cherla LOS Madivi Ramesh have been arrested under Mothugudem police limits in Alluri Sitharama Raju district.

The duo had been actively involved in the recruitment of new members for the outlawed CPI (Maoist), said ASR Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar in a press meet held in Paderu on Saturday (March 29).

Thirtyfive-year-old Madakam Manga alias Mangal of Muria tribe is native of Dokupadu Village in Sukma district. Initially, Mr. Manga served as militia member between 2015 and 2019.

He served as party member till he was elevated as ACM in January, 2025, and commander of Sabari LOS. Mr. Manga had been involved in 18 cases, including recruitment and setting fire to tendu leaf godowns in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh States.

Booby trap expert

Twentythree-year-old Madivi Ramesh alias Pradeep of Muria tribe belongs to Bejji police limits in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh State.

In 2023, Mr. Ramesh joined in the Cherla LOS and known for his skills in arranging booby traps targetting the security forces, said the SP.

The police have seized one .303 rifle and a magazine from the duo during a combing operation jointly conducted by the State police and CRPF personnel on March 28. The police have registered a case and the investigation is on.
