The Thunchan Memorial Trust at Thunchanparamba, Tirur, on Monday elected writer Vaisakhan as its chairperson. Mr. Vaisakhan will replace M.T. Vasudevan Nair, who passed away on December 25. MT was chairman of the Trust for 32 years without a break.
Mr. Vaisakhan’s election was unanimous. Thunchan Memorial Trust secretary P. Nandakumar, MLA, proposed his name. Poets Alankode Leelakrishnan and Manambur Rajanbabu seconded him. Writer M.R. Raghava Varier presided over the meeting.
This year’s Thunchan festival will be dedicated to M.T. Vasudevan Nair. Titled ‘Pranamam MT’, the five-day festival will begin on February 27. Tamil writer Sivasankari will inaugurate the festival.
Apart from seminars and book fairs, the festival will scree MT’s cinemas and will have an exclusive session for the photographers who clicked MT’s pictures.
