Malayalam actress Vincy Sony Aloshious has accused a co-actor of misbehaving with her during the shoot of a recent film, allegedly while under the influence of drugs. The Rekhastar, who recently attended an anti-drug awareness event, has since been making headlines for stating she would not act in films with drug-using actors.
Addressing the backlash, Aloshious posted a video on Instagram, clarifying that her statement stemmed from personal experience. “Some days back at an anti-drug campaign programme, I made a statement that I will not do movies again with people I know who use drugs. I am doing this video because I wanted to make my stand clear,” she said.
Without naming the actor involved, Vincy detailed several troubling incidents from the set. “When I had a problem with my dress, I went to correct it. He said, ‘I will also come and correct it for you.’ He said this in front of everyone. It was very difficult to go ahead with the shoot,” she recounted.
She also alleged that the same actor was visibly using drugs on set. “When we were practising a scene, he was spitting some kind of white powder onto the table. It was very evident that he was using drug on the film set.”
Despite informing the producers, Vincy said the production continued because the actor in question held a lead role. “Everyone knew about this. The director went and spoke. This is one person they took as main artist, so they had to somehow finish that movie,” she said.
Vincy’s revelation adds to the growing conversation around drug use in the Malayalam film industry. Industry insiders, including producers and members of AMMA, have spoken out about the issue, with some even claiming to have lists of known drug users. Police have also confirmed investigations are underway, with around 300 individuals linked to the drug trade under scrutiny —some of them reportedly from the film world.
Vincy Aloshious, who debuted with Vikruthi in 2019, won acclaim with her State Award-winning performance in Rekha and has appeared in Jana Gana Mana, Saudi Vellakka, and Marivillin Gopurangal.
