Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away at the age of 100 on Sunday in Georgia, USA. He was the longest-living U.S. president.

Beyond his political legacy, Carter had a unique and significant connection to India. His mother, Lillian Carter once served as a health worker in the country.

In January 1978, Carter visited India, and during his trip, he and his wife Rosalynn visited the village of Daulatpur Nasirabad in Gurugram. The village was later renamed Carterpuri.
