Water supply agency says Belagavi groundwater is non-potable

The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation, an agency that oversees water supply in Belagavi city, has urged residents not to drink water from open wells or borewells, as it has been found to be non-potable.

Most people in the city are using borewell and open well water for drinking. However, after thorough testing, laboratory reports have indicated that this water is not fit for drinking.

Therefore, it is hereby requested that no one should use borewell and open well water for drinking as it can affect their health condition.

It is also recommended that only clean water supplied by the Municipal Corporation be used for drinking, said a release from the Superintending Engineer of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation.

Supply affected today

Some areas in the city will suffer water supply disruption on Friday, due to emergent repair and maintenance work on some leakages in pipelines, said a release.

The affected areas are Kali Ambrai, Nagarkara Galli, Risaldar Galli, Kangral Galli, Gondal Galli, Kelakar Bhag, Ram Mandir, Ramdev Galli, Kirloskar Road, Cauvery BP, some areas of Konawala Galli, Khade Bazaar, Bapat Galli, Kadolakaar Galli, Buruda Galli, Anasurakaar Galli, some parts of Basavanagalli, some parts of Deshpande Galli, Kakatives Road, Chandugalli, Khanjaar Galli, Chambar Galli, Shaniwari Koota, Chiraknagar, Khade Bazaar Road, Baisabina Dargah, Vashi Deshpande Line, Macy Galli, Azad Galli, Tenginakaar Galli, Pongal Galli. Bhovi Galli, Buruda Galli, Ganapathigalli, Khadak Galli, Jalagar Galli, Darbaragalli, Kotwalgalli, Bhagavanagalli, Bukhari Galli, Hanuman Nagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, TV Center, Sadashiva Nagar, Jadhav Nagar, Vivinagar, Paipalaina Road, Vinayak Nagar, Omkara Nagar, KHB Colony, Jaya Nagar, Kuvempu Nagar, Subhas Nagar, some parts of Ashok Nagar, some parts of Veerabhadra Nagar, all parts of Belgaum South and all demonstration zones of North, the release said.
