If your FASTag is issued by Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL), what should you do? Let us inform you that as per RBI guidelines, FASTag issued by PPBL can be used till March 15. Users can use the balance present in the card. But after the deadline is over, users cannot top-up (recharge) their FASTag, which directly means that you will not be able to use it after the balance is exhausted.
Now if you want to change Paytm FASTag to any other bank, then you have two options here. The first of these is to port FASTag to another bank, but this facility is not available for all banks. In such a situation, only second option is left for you, in which you will have to apply a new FASTag with a new bank.
However, here you have to keep one important thing in mind. You have to permanently deactivate your FASTag with Paytm before getting FASTag issued with the new bank. Only after that you can apply for a new FASTag. So before registering for a new card, we are first telling you how to deactivate the existing FASTag from Paytm.
How to deactivate Paytm FASTag permanently?
Method 1
- To deactivate FASTag through call, dial 1800-120-4210 and provide your registered mobile number and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID.
- A Paytm customer support agent will confirm closure of your FASTag.
- However, in some cases this does not work, then you have another method, where you have to use the Paytm app.
Method 2
- First of all, open Paytm app and tap on the profile icon present in the top right corner.
- Now tap on “Help & Support”.
- Here tap on “FASTag” present on the “Banking Services & Payments” section.
- Now tap on “Chat with us” and select the appropriate option to start the deactivation process.
Keep in mind that as per government guidelines, any user will have to completely dismantle the previous tag before installing the new FASTag in the vehicle. In such a situation, Paytm will also ask you for a picture of the broken tag. Here you will have two options, either you can upload the photo right away or you can share the photo with Paytm later.
Apart from this, let us tell you that according to Paytm, the security deposit and balance will be refunded to you within about a week after the start of the FASTag closure process.
Where to buy new FASTag? (Best Bank!)
Now comes the time to apply for the new FASTag. Let us tell you that you can link your FASTag with 32 authorized banks. You can apply for the new FASTag through the official website or app of these banks.
Tag joining fee is Rs 100 (including GST). If you are looking for the best bank for a new tag, then let us tell you that the service of all banks regarding FASTag is almost the same. Here the tag joining fee is also the same, but the difference is in security deposit and minimum balance. For example, to get FASTag for car from HDFC Bank, the security deposit is Rs 100 and the minimum balance (Threshold Amount) is kept at 0. At the same time, the security deposit for car tag in ICICI Bank is Rs 200 and the threshold amount is also Rs 200. The security deposit for car in IDFC Bank is zero and the threshold amount is Rs 200.
You can choose the bank as per your convenience and apply for the new FASTag through their official website or app. The new tag arrives at home within 6-7 days.
