Motorola One Fusion+ vs Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: specifications, software

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was launched at low prices, but the GST rate hike and another recent adjustment have made it more expensive.
Both devices support dual SIM with 4G and VoLTE, but only the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a dedicated microSD card slot. In Motorola One Fusion+, you can add either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card due to the hybrid dual-SIM slot. Both phones support Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi and multiple navigation systems.
Both of these smartphones run Android 10 and were running the April security patch at the time of our comparison, but their user interfaces are very different. Redmi Note 9 Pro Max runs on MIUI 11 skin based on Android. It comes with a lot of bloatware (pre-installed unwanted apps) and we found some apps that show a ton of unwanted ads and notifications. The Motorola One Fusion+ feels almost like stock Android and doesn’t come with a lot of preinstalled bloatware. We did not encounter a single spam notification during the review period. Here we definitely liked the clean user interface of the Motorola One Fusion+ compared to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Motorola One Fusion+ vs Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: performance
We found both these smartphones to be fast and there was not a single lag at any point. Both review units had 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, so we were curious to see which one would come out on top in terms of performance. The fingerprint scanners present in both the phones unlock the phone instantly and one good thing about Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is that it also has face unlock, which Motorola One Fusion+ does not have.
We watched some videos on both these devices and found the Motorola One Fusion+ to be better in terms of speakers and screen. We ran some benchmark tests on both these devices and the results were quite similar. In AnTuTu, the Motorola One Fusion+ got a score of 273,407, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max managed to achieve a score of 277,058. In the Geekbench 5 single and multi-core tests, the Motorola One Fusion+ scored 548 and 1,691 points respectively, and here too the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was slightly ahead with its 564 and 1,759 points. For graphics benchmarks, GFXBench’s T-Rex and car chase scenes ran at 55fps and 15fps respectively on the One Fusion+, while the same scenes ran at 59fps and 16fps respectively on the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.
We played PUBG Mobile on the Motorola One Fusion+ and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and it runs on the high preset by default on both devices. The game ran smoothly without any issues on both the smartphones, but we did notice that the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max felt a little warm to the touch after playing for 20 minutes, while the Motorola One Fusion+ was not affected in the same period of time.
Both the review phones come with almost the same battery capacity and last for about one and a half days on a full charge with regular use. However, in our HD video loop test, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max lasted 17 hours, 10 minutes. This is significantly more than the Motorola One Fusion+’s 15 hours and 45 minutes. The charging capacity is also higher in Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, as it has a 33W charger. It charges the phone up to 90 percent in one hour. At the same time, Motorola One Fusion+ has an 18W charger, which can charge the phone up to 60 percent in the same time.
