A woman and a baby died in the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Raichur. The mother died on Wednesday, while the baby passed away on Monday.
The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Shivalingamma of Masidapur village in Deodurg taluk of Raichur district.
According to Medical Superintendent K. Bhaskar, Shivalingamma was referred from the Manvi Taluk Hospital to RIMS Hospital due to health complications, including preeclampsia (pregnancy complication) on December 27, 2024.
Therefore, doctors conducted a Caesarean section. But, after three days, the baby died.
Meanwhile, treatment was continued for the mother with the support of a ventilator. But she died of uncontrolled blood pressure.
Dr. Bhaskar further said that though experts in the RIMS Hospital made efforts to ensure proper medical treatment to save the woman, she passed away.
