The government is planning to set up a world class museum and library in the name of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar near the Hussain Sagar Lake to be executed through the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
The museum and memorial library will be set up at the gigantic Ambedkar statue on the NTR Mark, as per the HMDA’s Request For Proposal issued on March 29, inviting proposals from reputed consultancy firms for providing transaction advisory, curation support and project management services.
The idea is to commemorate the life, legacy, and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. The museum is envisioned as an iconic cultural and educational space that captures his vision, philosophy, and historical impact, the RFP document explained.
The museum and library will be part of the memorial complex spread over 11.8 acres, which houses the 125 feet statue, foundation building, replica of Indian parliament, and other structures.
The museum is to be designed to cater spaces for workshops, interaction zones, and souvenir shops, and the consultant or consortium of consultants will need to advise on the project structuring, curate the thematic and content plan, support bid process management and oversee the project execution.
The museum would depict all the facets of Dr. Ambedkar’s life using informative, engaging immersive and interactive displays such as object displays, period settings, physical exhibits, contextualizing set-ups, interactive timelines, quiz games, digital, immersive experiences, using Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. It is desirable to maintain a physical-digital display ratio at around 60:40 in the museum, the RFP document said, revealing grand plans of the government.
Multilingual digital displays and interactive kiosks will provide information in various languages, while language-specific audio guides will offer narrated tours. Multimedia presentations and interactive exhibits will feature multilingual subtitles and translations to enhance accessibility. A mobile app with language options will further support visitors by providing additional information and virtual tours. QR code-based layered information to be provided for consumption of visitors, the document said.
The last date for bids is April 11, and it is yet to be determined if the project is to be taken up under Public Private Partnership mode or Engineering Procurement and Construction mode.
